Environmental Goals
Nissan will build a cleaner society by becoming carbon neutral through the vehicle lifecycle, and our operations, by 2050.
Nissan’s goal builds on its decades-long programs to reduce emissions and provide electric vehicle technologies that benefit the environment and society. The company’s electrification and emissions reduction efforts support the aims of the U.N. Paris Agreement on climate change and global progress toward carbon neutrality by 2050.
Nissan Green Program
The Nissan Green program (NGP) is an environmental action plan to accelerate efforts to address environmental issues in climate change, resource dependency, air quality, and water scarcity.
Climate Change
We are reducing CO2 emissions through innovative electrification technologies and placing a significant focus on EV battery innovations. By the early 2030s every all-New Nissan vehicle offering in key markets will be electrified.
We will also strive for greater energy and material efficiencies to support longer-term carbon neutrality ambitions.
Resource Dependency
Nissan is developing systems for using resources efficiently and sustainably across their entire lifecycle.
Nissan will expand recycling from scrapped vehicles with aluminum, resin, and electric materials to further reduce CO2 emissions and the use of new resources.
We take safety seriously. As a result, many of our vehicles continue to earn high safety ratings on public and governmental tests. Nissan strives to earn our customers' trust by providing top quality, reliable products. Check out our Awards & Accolades.
Air Quality
Nissan approaches air quality by focusing on two points: greener exhaust emissions and providing a pleassant in-cabin environment to customers
Nissan thoroughly implements systems and control standards at our produciton plants to reduce the amount of air pollutants emitted during operation.
Water Scarcity
Demand for water is expected to increase globally, driven by rising populations and economic development.
We are constantly striving to develop new methods to reduce water usage across manufacturing plants worldwide such as refining painting processes and improving wastewater recycling to reduce external water withdrawals.
